WINE TOUR IN HISTORICAL WINERIES
Today you’ll enjoy a wine tour in Etna area. Private transfer to Benanti winery where you’ll have a private tour and you’ll be delighted with a real Sicilian lunch.
Tasting these wines is a unique opportunity to experience, in a very real sense, the specificities of the four distinctive contrade: Dafara Galluzzo in Rovittello, Castiglione di Sicilia; Rinazzo in Milo; Monte Serra in Viagrande and Cavaliere in Santa Maria di Licodìa. This experience includes the visit of the Estate and the Monte Serra vineyard.
The tour and lunch will last 3 hours, then you’ll be transferred to the second winery Barone di Villagrande, situated on the eastern slope of Etna that overlooks Taormina and Ionian Sea. Every visit includes a welcome on the terrace with view over the vineyard which is structured as an amphitheatre and overlooks the Gulf of Catania. The guide will introduce you some information about the family and the history of the Etna wine. The you will move towards the cellar, built in 1850. Here you will have the chance to see the how the gravitational system of vinification, called “palmento”, worked. The visit will last about 45 min and includes a selection of 5 wines paired with finger food.
