Meet the guide and driver at the hotel’s lobby (centrally located) and discover one of the most beautiful abbeys in Piedmont area, the one that inspired “The name of the Rose movie”.
The abbey is situated on top of the rocky Mount Pirchiriano. This monument was built between 983 and 987. Under Benedictine rule, the abbey expanded greatly over the centuries and is now entrusted to the Rosminian religious order. A highlight of the visit is the Scalone dei Morti, or Stairway of the Dead, an impressive 243-step staircase flanked by tombs which once housed the visible skeletons of dead monks.The church, which features Gothic and Romanesque architecture, contains tombs of royal members of the House of Savoy, while the tower offers breath-taking views of the valley and, in the distance, Turin. You’ll have about 2 hours at disposal to have a nice lunch in a nearby restaurant (not included).The tour will last about 3 hours.Transfer back to Turin.
