PRIVATE JEWISH TOUR IN ROME

Hidden in the heart of the city, the Jewish ghetto or the Jewish neighbourhood is one of the best attractions in Rome.

The Ghetto was established in 1555 in the Rione Sant’Angelo, near the Tiber River in the southern part of Campo de’ Fiori. One of the spectacular sites are: Teatro Marcello, names after Marcus Marcellus, Emperor Augustus’s nephew, where most of the jewish community lives, and the Great Synagogue or the Tempio Maggiore which is the largest synagogue of Rome. You’ll be able to visit also the Jewish Museum, opened underneath the Great Synagogue. It tells the history of the Jews and the Jewish Ghetto and also keeps collection of the Jewish community, silverware, textiles etc.

The tour lasts about 3 hours and is held by local Jewish roman guides. You can choose to return to your hotel or stay for about other 2 hours and have lunch in a nice kosher restaurant (lunch on your expenses).
