The Gallery will open exclusively for you and you will have the chance to have a private guided tour of this amazing palace. A true jewel of the Roman Baroque, the Galleria Colonna was commissioned in the mid 1600s by Cardinal Girolamo I Colonna and his nephew Lorenzo Onofrio Colonna.

From the very beginning, the Gallery was conceived as a huge state room, which was to celebrate the victory of the Christian fleet over the Turks at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571. The Colonna Princess preserves also the apartment formerly used by Princess Isabelle exactly as it was when she was still alive. Isabelle Colonna fell in love with Prince Marcantonio, who brought her to Italy, where she was able to integrate successfully into Roman society.

In the apartment you can find the same warm atmosphere, the same attention to detail and care to keep the family photos where they were originally placed. Located on the ground floor of the palace on which it was built there are the foundations of the ancient Temple of Serapis.

At the end, you will visit the Pio Pavillion, whose rooms were part of the cardinal’s apartment once inhabited by three Colonna cardinals: Ascanio (16th century), Girolamo I (17th century) and Girolamo II (18th century).
