BORROMEAN ISLAND BOAT TOUR
Today you will have a lovely boat trip on Lake Maggiore. This Lake is the second largest lake in Italy and its shores touches two Italian regions, Piedmont and Lombardy and the Swiss canton of Ticino. Lake Maggiore is one of Italy’s most stunning and historically important lakes, with breathtaking landscapes and masterpieces of art.
The tour will start from Stresa and will let you discover the Borromean Islands. The name of these island comes from an Italian aristocratic family that purchased these three rocky islands and transformed them into jewels. The two islands of Bella and Madre became luxurious residences, while the island “dei Pescatori” continued to be a traditional fishing community. Each island offers a very different experience: Isola Bella was completely transformed by its occupants, and its palace and gardens are the epitome of opulence and luxury. In contrast, the Isola dei Pescatori with its village unchanged by time, offers a fascinating simplicity. Finally, the exotic atmosphere of the lush and calm Isola Madre can be ascribed to the gardens that almost totally cover it.
