BAROQUE HERITAGE AND CHOCOLATE
Private transfer to Ragusa Ibla where you’ll meet your local guide. Since 2002, thanks to its impressive baroque architecture, Ibla is an Unesco world heritage site, part of the cultural town centers of the Noto valley. During this tour you will learn about the origins of Ragusa and about the terrible earthquake which destroyed southeastern Sicily in the year 1693. You will visit the remains of portale San Giorgio, the St. George’s gate, the last evidence of the ancient medieval cathedral. You will then walk through the pleasant Hyblaean gardens.
After the visit of Ibla you’ll be transferred to Modica which is a particulary famous for its chocolate and it is an appealing destination for food-lovers, making a good holiday base or day-trip destination.
Important in Medieval times, Modica was rebuilt after the great earthquake of 1693 and now boasts fine late-Baroque architecture as well as a medieval old town.
The last stop will be a chocolate making producer. You will discover the history of the chocolate, of the company and the ancient Mesoamerian origin of the entire production process.
You will be able to taste different types of chocolate. The tour will last about 30 min.
